Review Police and Service Hours Police and Service Hours are within expected limits
Dale reported that they are continuing with leaf pick-up. The boom on the 2011 Titan Leaf Loader developed a stress crack. The machine has been in service for 2 seasons and is out of warranty. A new boom has been ordered and should be hear this week. In the interim, the service department is using the old unit. Dale is going to send a letter to the manufacturer to see if we can recover some of our costs.
Dale provided the committee with a list of the large equipment that the Village owns detailing the projected replacement year and replacement cost. This will allow us to insure that sufficient funds are in our Capitol Equipment Budget.(see attached)
Dale reported that Lester surgery was successful and that the service department has absorbed Lester’s duties.
Chief Barone reported that there had burglaries in Bentleyville and surrounding communities. It was recommended that we utilize the reverse 911 network to advise the community.
Chief Barone reported that the equipment update for the computer networking is almost competed.
Mr. Filarsky reported (by email) that the lights for the Solon Road bridge should be replaced this week, the Winding River Storm Sewer project is complete and the 2013 Roads program is underway. Mr. Filarsky also provided documentation for a change order for the Winding River project (see attached)
Old Business Review items for the 2014 Budget
The Service Department does not have any large equipment needs. It is recommended that about $3000 to purchase the undercarriage pressure washer, a weed wacker and hedge trimmer be included in the 2014 budget.
Chief Barone feels that the Village needs an additional car in order to ensure that we have vehicles available when needed. Following a great deal of research and discussion with the Village fiscal officer, he is recommending that the Village purchase a new vehicle and lease a 2nd new vehicle. The cost for doing both is about the same. A discussion ensued. The committee supports this recommendation.
Council-person Comstock requested that we revisit the enhanced 911 app.
New Business Review Ordinances for the November council meeting
The committee discussed various ordinances and resolutions and recommend passage of:
--The change order for Winding River Trails storm sewer project.
--The purchase of 5 Glock service weapons
--The new pay scale for Village employees
--The hiring of 5 new part-time officers
