Attendees: Joe Maurer, Chair, Jonathan Slain, Committee, Bernice Schreiber, Fiscal Officer, Wendy Gillund, Council, Christine Comstock, Council, Kathleen Hale, Council,
John Bourisseau, Council, Mayor Spremulli
Meeting Called to Order at 7:00PM
The purpose of this meeting was the discussion of the 2012 budget. It is imperative that the budget is approved at the March council meeting.
Each council member attending the meeting presented their opinion on the budget and the significant issues.
The primary differences as have been discussed at prior meetings is the Mayor’s projection of regional income tax revenue, police department administrative hours and service department hours. In addition, the the merits of full time versus part time employees for the service department has been the subject of much debate.
In general the Streets and Safety Committee was in favor of full time employees while the Finance Committee was in favor of continuing in a part time environment. In addition, the Finance Committee believes that Regional Revenues will be considerably lower in 2012 and believes that more reliance should be placed on the advice of our representative at RITA.
There was consensus at the end of the meeting that the Mayor’s most recent budget was some sort of compromise. The Finance Committee recommends the approval of Council at the March meeting.
Meeting adjourned at 8:30PM
